What You Need

  • Fabric
  • Band-aid
  • Craft paper
  • Paper tape
  • Double-sided tape
  • Lace
  • Twine
  • Black marker
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun

Step by Step Tutorial: How to Make a Baby Jesus Manger

Let’s start making a manger first. Trace a capsule shape 3.5×2” onto a paper and cut it out.

Apply the shape to draw two capsule shapes onto the fabric and cut them out.

Take a lace 11” in length. Put hot glue onto one of the capsule shapes and glue the lace upright along with the shape.

Add more glue to the first capsule shape and lace. Next, stick the second fabric capsule shape over the top to cover it beautifully.

Unwrap the band-aid and apply it to the center of the manger. Then use paper tape and attach layer by layer onto the band-aid to create a banket.

Cut a small circle out of craft paper. Add eyes, nose, and mouth to the circle to form a face for Baby Jesus.

The final step is to make a secure knot for hanging. Let’s cut a short piece of twine and attach it to the top of the ornament.

Then the Baby Jesus Christmas craft is completed.

What Can I Use Instead of Fabric?

I prefer to use fabric for my ornament because I am a big fan of upcycled crafts. Besides, I choose the material as it takes no effort to get them for my simple project.

However, you definitely can if you have other materials as below that you want to use instead.

  • Use burlap if you are the one who loves a rustic look.
  • Felt is highly recommended to use as it offers a gorgeous appearance.
  • Foam paper is such an appealing material that ideal for the craft
  • Cardstock, construction paper, or scrapbook paper are also nice options.

No matter what materials you will use for your Baby Jesus decorations, don’t forget to make yours stand out. Impressing people with gorgeous handmade stuff will give them surprising happiness.
