Hello hello! Yes, I am finally back with some updates on the house! I have been taking a reeeeeaaalllyy looooooooonnng break from the blog, for various reasons, including holiday crazy-ness, remodeling the house, issues at my full-time job, having a 2 year old, and not least, starting a new small business. That’s right, as if I wasn’t busy enough, I went and started a small t-shirt and design shop for kids and ladies. You can check it out if you want by clicking Cotton and Fern.
The quick version of the story behind the shop is essentially that creating this blog has led me to a passion for graphic design and I wanted to express that passion through designs for t-shirts and more. My designs mainly feature faith-based themes, watercolors, and cute quotes and images for children, although I design for women as well. Here are a few of the designs from my shop:
Needless to say I have a lot on my plate, but I hope to stop in a little more frequently now that I have established my little store and keep you updated on our DIY remodel! I was able to get my new kitchen lights installed right before Christmas! Woop-woop! They really “make” the kitchen, and I am so happy to finally have updated lighting. To see the “before” and our kitchen cabinet makeover see this post.
The pendant lights are from Parrot Uncle and they are very affordable and, of course, awesome. These farmhouse style pendants are huge and have the perfect shape and black finish. I seriously love them and they make the room!
We also had 4 recessed lights installed, as well as a new chandelier over the dining table. The chandelier is from World Market, and I just love how simple, yet charming it is. It has a ton of Edison bulbs in it as well, so it gives of the perfect amount of light.
I’ve almost finished painting the new color in the kitchen and have more finishing details to work on, but I’m so excited about the progress so far! Let me know what you think in the comments below!
