Main bath DIY remodel phase 1

Happy Father’s Day!  I hope you are spending time with your dad today – or at least don’t forget to text or call him!  Other than being Father’s Day, today is Operation Finish the Bathroom Remodel I Started 3 Months Ago.

I  began remodeling the 1970s main bathroom at my in-laws’ house- where we are currently staying – back in March.  I got a lot done at first but then needed to step back and take a break from it once it was functional; I tend to get overwhelmed with big projects, and this one is massive.

It was time for a total overhaul; the floors, the tub/shower, the toilet, the vanity, the mirror, the lighting and the linen closet.  Here are some shots I took with my phone just as we were starting the reno:

Its definitely a good-sized bath so I knew it would be beautiful once it was updated.  I decided to do the project in two phases;  phase 2 would be the closet and shower, and phase 1 everything else.

So far we have put in a new floor, installed bead board and new molding, installed crown molding, put in a new vanity and mirror, added an electrical outlet on the right side of the sink, added lighting next to the mirror, put in a new toilet, painted the walls and ceiling, put in a new door, and updated the fixtures.

Now I need to finish the trim and painting, repaint the closet doors to match the new trim, and then finish a small section of the floor that isn’t in yet.  After that, the fun stuff – the decor!  I have quite a few DIY projects planned, which of course I will share with you!

The accent color I chose is a seafoam green, which I am just in love with right now!

The very disorganized linen closet which will be part of Phase 2

New toilet and wall where I plan on installing some DIY floating shelves

Recognize this little table?  Its the one I painted in my chalk paint tutorial last week.

You can see the lovely gold tile that’s in the shower – also Phase 2 (we’ll see when that happens…)
