Calm and Inviting Whole House Paint Scheme

Hello my friends!  I am finally getting back into the swing of things, after our big move last month, and then the passing of my sweet grandma last week.  Life has really been crazy lately.  I doubt it will get any less crazy any time soon, but that’s ok!  I’m really excited about some things that are coming up soon – I can’t wait to share them with you!
I am very excited to share today’s post with you as well!  This is my 3rd “installment” of my whole-house-paint-scheme ideas.  My previous 2 have done well on Pinterest, so I say, “give the people what they want!”
The first scheme was the Soothing and Sophisticated palette, and the 2nd was Stormy Skies.  Also, in my last post I shared my method for making a digital paint color floor plan, like the ones I use in these posts.  This time I chose to keep the palette in shades of gray, because, hey, I just love gray!
Gray is neutral and calming, but has so many variations.  It can be paired with any color scheme, design style, and many wood tones.  Gray is always a good idea.
If you like the tones of the colors, but think they might feel a bit dark in your home, you can always have them mix your paint at 50% or 75% to acheive a lighter shade.
I put together a whole-house paint scheme using some neutral grays I love to see how all the colors would look together. Kind of a paint color test drive. I wanted to try it out "virtually" and see how the colors flowed together. So I chose this adorable little house and floor plan... TheDomesticHeart.com
I chose colors from Benjamin Moore (BM) and Sherwin Williams (SW) because their paints are amazing, they have great online tools, and the best colors.  Also, they are used by many designers and it’s easy to find example photos, as many people use their paints.

I can attest to your good taste. We painted our house SW Passive throughout with Dorian Gray in the main bath (on top of walls/WS Snowbound on bottom wainscoting). All trim SW Snowbound and interior doors are WS Tricorn Black. It is stunning.

Hi there! I love this color scheme. We are testing colors to repaint our home and many of these are what we are considering. What do you normally see and/or recommend for ceiling color? We chose White Dove for our trim, but haven’t chosen a wall color yet.

I like your blog! I have used many of these wall colors myself for my own personal home and to sell clients. My question is Can you tell me the make of the floors and stair rail in the picture holy city chic love that look? Is that your own home or a pcture of one that you found and if so the source? Thanks so much!

Hi Wendy! Thanks so much! Yes if you click on the picture it will take you to that site. I’m not sure if they have those listed but I’m sure you can ask them :)

Beautiful colour scheme and thank you so much for the ‘digital floor plan’ link. Regarding your choices; as IMHO feel that colours and their undertones can be influenced by their N/E/W/S location perhaps you might wish to consider indicating same on your scheme as to which way the home is facing. (Hopefully that makes sense … ☺.) -Brenda-

I have used all these colors in my house with the exception of the iron ore. Could you suggest an accent color for my foyer with a little more color than the iron ore. The gray owl I used has blue not green. I think the 00-52 BM. Thank you

Would this color scheme work with wood trim? I like white trim but my husband wants to go with wood trim…I am compromising with a white kitchen and darker wood floors. Thanks!

Thank you for this color scheme, LOVE it! If you were to paint the interior of the garage, what color would you use?

I really love all 3 of the whole house palettes that you put together! I think I can adapt the third one with the grays. Can you make some additional suggestions, using some blue-grays? Can one combine Silver Sage and gray- blues? My home floor plan is most similar to the third one. I have a bath between the 2 bedrooms, but no separate dining room. I am turning what would be a dining room into a sitting room/art gallery. It is open to family room and kitchen as in you floor plan.
    Thank you for the inspiration!

    Hi

Your house looks so stunning!!! The color looks an amazing. We just recently moved and we finished painted our whole down stairs in BM grey owl and BM stonnington gray. I wanted to do a monochromatic look. I did the trim in simply white. I want to pain my fireplace a dark gray but I’m not sure what grey would go good with the stonnington gray. Please help!!

Your home is beautiful. I love all of these colors. We remodeled last year and used SW Repose for our kitchen and living room. BM white dove was used for our cabinets, trim, and shiplap. We really love it. I’m about to paint our boys room but repose looks to light in their room. I’m trying to decide between mindful gray and Dorian gray. Hmmm…

I love this color scheme. I am painting my entire house and I think I will go with all of your suggestions. I am also going to have stained concrete thoughout the home. What color do you think would be best? Like maybe a dark gray to make the walls pop? or should I stick with a light gray or go for a completely different color?
