Happy New Year!  I hope you had a wonderful holiday season with your loved ones and are enjoying 2015 so far.  I am so excited about what 2015 will bring and I know it’s going to be an amazing year!  I have survived installing new flooring in the entire house, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and my son’s 1st birthday party, and now I’m hoping to settle in and really focus on the blog.

My son’s party was a lot of work but it was so fun to plan and I know he enjoyed it, even though he’s only 1! He was such a little ham, showing off for all the grown ups, and cracking everyone up during his cake smash when he stuck his face in the cake!

The theme for the party was “Winter Woodland,” with little foxes and owls -and most of all- birch!  I am so in love with birch right now!  The party was totally DIY and on a budget – as usual!  I am going to share a few of the projects I did for the party and then I will do a full post with pictures from the party.  Sound good?

One of the first things I made was this simple silver and birch wreath, with DIY flocked greenery.  I got the beautiful birch ribbon from Decor Steals. The gorgeous lanterns are from Decor Steals as well!  If you haven’t checked them out yet, go do it!  The mini grapevine wreath is from the dollar store.

It’s super simple, with just a bow of silver ribbon and birch ribbon, and some real cedar greenery that I flocked myself.  It’s exactly the look I wanted for the party.  I know it’s a bit elegant for a birthday party, but I wanted something a little different, and that’s the fun of DIY, you can “march to the beat of your own drum,” so to speak!

I hope you’ll stay tuned for another party project later this week!  Happy crafting!

From my {domestic} ♥ to yours,

Shelly
