If you’ve missed the other projects in this series on “How to Decorate for Fall on a Budget,” check out my DIY drop cloth pumpkins, chalkboard and book page banner, and free fall printables set (seen below).

I saw this little jar at Joann’s one day and immediately thought it was shaped so much like a pumpkin, I just had to do something orange with it. :)  And, it just so happens that this jar perfectly holds a tea light!  And they were only a $1 each!

So yeah, all the stars pretty much aligned for this adorable, cheap-o pumpkin decoration.  Yay!

All I did was paint on several coats of homemade chalk paint, made from acrylic paint in the color “jack’o’lantern.”  Then I wrapped the tops with jute twine and yarn.

As you see, I made two versions; one has more of a Halloween look, with black yarn and black chalkboard label.  The other I wrapped with jute twine and just wrote right on it with a white chalkboard marker.
